Late C19th Ceylanese porcupine quill , ebony and bone-inlaid casket or trinket box .

Ebony-framed porcupine quill casket with bone dot inlay of good larger scale , the hinged lid revealing a lift-out tray fitted with nine lidded compartments with corresponding bone �dot� inlay of alternating diameters and ebony knobs , having a vacant storage compartment below . The underside of the lid with a decoration panel of dotted bone inlay in a geometric design . Fitted with original lock (key lacking) .
In remarkable excellent original condition , all inlay complete with no damage or missing quills .
Manufactured in the Galle or Matara district of southern Ceylon , an area renowned for the production of this type of ware .
