Set of 8 C19th George IV period mahogany dining chairs .
Raised on carved and turned forelegs the upholstered ‘stuff-over’ seats upholstered in old red plush fabric . The broad concave shaped backs with classically-inspired lotus or palmette leaf carved motifs beneath , the uprights having channeled carved detail .
Well-selected heavy grade of figured mahogany retaining it’s original surface and polish which as achieved a rich colour and patina .
The overall design of these chairs taking their inspiration from classical antiquity , with the influence of the Greek Klismos chair in evidence in the backs .
No breaks or repairs , all in strong , robust condition . Could be re-upholstered to clients’ specifications if required .
Stylish set of 8 single dining chairs which could perhaps be combined with a further similar pair of carver chairs to form a longer set .
