Description

Early C19th Regency period mahogany bookcase cabinet of unusual form and design.
Single-piece glazed bookcase fitted with bar-glazed lancet panel doors to the upper section enclosing adjustable shelves. Beneath the glazed doors is a pull-out slide fitted with turned knob handles , above figured-veneer panelled cupboard doors . The base fitted with a single long drawer also having turned knob pull handles.
The uprights to front and back having turned columnar supports with turned finials , raised on turned feet . The top of the bookcase fitted with a shaped ‘swan-neck’ pediment with turned paterae terminals.
The doors all fitted with original brass bolts , locks and shaped escutcheons with working keys .
In excellent original condition with a rich colour and patina.
Of practical scale and proportions . Possibly of Scottish origin.
