Scarce set of three tall C19th graduated height decorated and painted brass corinthian column Masonic candlesticks.
Imposing set of three corinthian order candlesticks, the fluted tapering shafts having a corinthian capital supporting a turned candle nozzle with decorative star-shaped drip-pans . Each raised on a graduated stepped block plinth base providing the variations in scale .
Having black painted decorated plinths and tops with gilded highlights , the shafts and capitals with gilded surfaces. Some wear to surfaces and evidence of refreshed and perhaps over-painting. The gilt having an aged and dulled patina. The smallest missing its bobeche to candle nozzle.
Interesting set of candlesticks, thought to represent “Wisdom, Strength and Beauty “ in the Masonic order .
Wonderful scale and presence, would make a bold set of lamps or used as architectural decoration.
