Elegant early C19th George III period mahogany 3-pillar pedestal dining table of good scale and proportions.
Raised on three turned ‘gun-barrel’ column supports with reeded ring detail , having reeded 3-splay supports to the twin D-shaped end sections, the centre pedestal with corresponding reeded 4-splay supports, all fitted with square box-toe brass castors . Having 2 further extension leaves , one being a later replacement in well-matched period mahogany.
The top retaining it’s original polished surface, having achieved a pleasing mellow colour and patina to the well-selected figured mahogany. Some historic marks and stains commensurate with age, use and purpose. The top having a reeded edge to all sections and leaves . The pedestal sections all fitted with pull-out ‘lopers’ to support the additional leaves . The twin D-end sections having tilting actions and fitted with brass handles and catches , the whole having original brass fittings and ‘fork’ clips to secure the sections together.
Having had some minor historic adaptations and repairs , which do not compromise the authenticity of the table .
A highly versatile and adaptable triple pillar table of practical scale , height and proportions with a particularly generous width, which can be used in various configurations of length as required to sit varying numbers of diners .
In full extension can accommodate 12 / 14 diners in comfort.
