Interesting and rare early C19th maple-framed divided 2-section mirror with a reverse glass print above depicting an American and British naval engagement.
The silvered mirror plate within the figured burr maple moulded-profile frame surrounded by gilt slips . The top panel with a reverse glass print depicting naval ‘Men o’ War’ ships in full sail ,engaged in battle, flying the ‘The Stars and Stripes’ flag and the British Ensign respectively.
The image probably depicts a naval engagement during either the American War of Independence or ‘The War of 1812’ between the two nations .
The verso fitted with the original backboards.
In excellent original condition with no damage or repairs.
