Impressive George II period style walnut and parcel gilt framed mirror of larger scale and proportions , in the manner of William Kent .
The scrolling ‘broken arch’ pediment with a well-carved gilt-wood central cartouche with carved gilt-wood rosettes and leaf carved scrolls to the arches .Raised above a gilt-wood carved moulding with a figured walnut veneered frieze below with a carved gilt-wood motif to the centre . The shaped outer frame with further carved and incised gilt-wood mouldings and having another carved gilt-wood scrolling motif to the base of the frame .
The original silvered mirror plate with a shaped carved gilt-wood slip surround .
Retains the original oak backboards to verso.
In excellent original condition with a rich period style patina and colour to the figured walnut and bright gilding to the carved gilt wood embellishments. Minor blisters to walnut veneer.
