Mid C19th circular inlaid specimen marble table top on original �bronzed� cast-iron base.
Geometrically designed inlaid marble and �pietra dura� specimen table top , set into a black marble ground . The �overlapping� specimen stones set fanning out from a central decorative motif roundel.
The original cast-iron base of sinuous rococo design retaining the original �faux� bronze finish and providing good stability and support.
Probably made in Ashford , Derbyshire , England, where a prosperous local industry developed from the mid C18th , manufacturing wares utilising both local and imported specimen marbles and hard stones . The base probably cast locally perhaps in Birmingham or Derby both having renowned iron foundries.
A skilfully made table in excellent original condition with no damage or losses .
A highly decorative marble-topped table of practical scale and proportions for use as a centre table or perhaps a lamp table .
