Early C19th Regency period mahogany dining table of highly versatile and restrained design.
Raised upon two rectangular bases of box form each with four elegant ring-turned slender tapering legs fitted with gilded brass cup castors and wheels. The ends of the tops with gently rounded corners and moulded reeded edges , the 2 original leaves corresponding edges. All fitted with the original gilded brass fittings and with their original gilded brass fork clips to secure the table .
The whole top being of a superior grade of figured solid mahogany which has achieved a pleasing mellow , lightly-faded colour and patina .
The table being of generous, broad width and balanced proportions , having a deep overhang above the sides of the frame below , providing good leg-room to accommodate chairs and diners .
Can be assembled for use in full length to comfortably seat 10 diners , or if desired can be easily disassembled to form a smaller breakfast table without the leaves , to seat 4 diners .
The design allowing the table to be easily dismantled and moved if required , thus providing flexibility and space options.
An elegant table of restrained design in untouched, original condition, the top having minor historic marks and scratches commensurate with age and use. Has one minor shrinkage crack to one end within the grain , but the whole table crucially retaining the original surface and finish . The bases in excellent strong and tight condition with no damage, breaks or repairs.
