Exceptional late C19th Indian Hoshiarpur brass and copper inlaid teak octagonal table on a folding carved and pierced base .
The octagonal top profusely and skilfully inlaid with geometric and floral designs in brass with some contrasting copper highlights , all within concentric ebony lines . The hinged and folding base with jali-work pierced panels and arches of carved and pierced panels. The base having corresponding brass inlaid details .
The underside of the top bearing a fragmentary paper trade label, for the maker or retailer in Hoshiarpur , Punjab , India .
The top in excellent original condition with no losses or damage. The base having one historic partially broken lower carved panel ( shown in photos) .
The hardwood having achieved a rich colour and patina.
A high quality, larger-scale table with great presence and decorative appeal.
