Late C19th French ormolu-mounted and brass inlaid ebonised' bureau-plat '/ writing tale . Napoleon III period free-standing table with good quality ormolu mounts, brass stringing and leather inset top with highly decorative brass-inlaid corners. Heavily-cast ormolu rim to the serpentine outline top with well-cast 'clasp' corners. The frieze fitted with 2 mahogany lined drawers with rococo ormolu handles and 'dummy' drawers to the reverse side .Standing on shaped cabriole legs with full-length ormolu mounts terminating in sabots to the feet. Free-standing, all-round decoration, with Bacchic mask to centre of friezes. Very clean, bright ormolu which forms a striking contrast to the ebonised body. H 29" x W 43 " x 26". France c. 1870
