Late C19th gilded brass and onyx standard lamp. High quality rococo style gilt brass standard lamp with telescopically adjustable-height column. Pale onyx marble centre platform/shelf with heavily-cast edge. 'Twist action' centre-block with tassel decoration for telescopic height adjustment. Tri-form base with pierced supports and all-over flamboyant rococo decoration. Adapted to electricity from oil , but with original reservoir/font stamped "Messengers Patent". Excellent condition with minor rubbing to gilding,nice 'soft' gold patina .Can be re-wired to clients specification .H (full)88" x H 62"(lowered) x Dia(of platform) 18". England c.1890
