Late C19th ormolu-framed 'pietra-dura' panelled jewellery casket. Quality semi-precious hard-stone inlaid Belgian black marble panels set in an oval beaded frame raised on scroll feet with silk-lined plush interior .Renaissance-revival design casket fitted with 7 multi-coloured polished stone floral design panels,some featuring the culturally and religiously significant "Lily o' the Valley " flower. In perfect condition with no cracks or repairs (key). Traditionally produced by the craftsmen of the Pietra Dura industry centred around Florence , these expensive items were sought-after 'objets de vertu' by rich tourists.
