Description

C19th Parian-ware bust study of Beethoven . Strong portrait image of the brilliant German pianist and composer Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1828).Made of Parian or statuary ware , the waxy porcelain resembling white Parian marble, developed in the 1840's by Copeland and Minton .Raised on integral socle base with octagonal foot. Inscribed "BEETHOVEN" to front of socle. Minor chips to base. Impressed numbers to underside , probably produced by Minton.
