Description

Late C18th George III period mahogany inlaid tea caddy . Single-sized mahogany caddy with box-wood strung edges and front and lid inlaid with sycamore oval medallions with floral inlay .
The interior fitted with original lid and knob . Original lock and hinges . Lacks key . Nice gently faded patina.
The term caddy derives from the Chinese word "Kati" which was the measure of weight used in the tea industry .
