Description

Fine late C18th Italian Florentine carved gilt-wood frame mirror of good large scale. Heavily carved gilt-wood frame with scroll and leaf/foliate decoration , retaining its original gilding. Impressive 'double' depth carved and pierced frame with typical Florentine central cartouche/reserve carving detail to the centres of all sides. The hand-bevelled edge plate with a good silvered-grey period colour , probably having been replaced around 100 years ago. The frame probably conceived originally for an oil painting .
Some minor chips and cracks to the decoration and carving commensurate with age ,and the back-boards having been replaced.
A smart piece of C18th opulent and flamboyant decoration with which to add mood and light to a period room-setting.
