Description

Early C19th Regency period inlaid rosewood fold-over card or gaming table raised on sabre legs.
Stylish 'D'-shaped rosewood card table with box-wood and ebony line inlay . Double rear gate-leg action and with the apparently original 'blind-tooled'-edge green baize inset playing surface.
Raised on shapely ,well-drawn exaggerated 'sabre' form legs ,and fitted with original brass box castors. The corners of the top inlaid with box-wood scrolling lines and motifs. The tops of the leg stiles with diamond-shaped motif inlay, the legs with box-wood line inlay. The friezes with ebony and box-wood line inlay.
Well-figured rosewood veneers throughout. The whole table has achieved a consistent mellow patina .
Elegant 'high' Regency design , probably Scottish .
Excellent original colour and condition with no breaks or repairs. Perfectly flat top with no warping .
The polished top with minor indentations commensurate with age , use and purpose.
