Late C19th /early C20th carved mahogany candle-stand or torchere of Chippendale revival style.
Finely-carved accurate and faithful copy of an important George III Chippendale period candle-stand made in the reign of Edward VII. The single-piece dished circular top raised on a finely carved tapering fluted column with leaf-wrapped and wrythen knop detail , unto a carved tripod base with scroll detail and scrolled feet . The tops of the legs carved with trailing harebell flower-head detail .
Fine attention to detail a with rich ,dark colour and patina to the selected superior grade of mahogany .
The original design to support a candlestick or candelabra to light a room , but in addition , could be used for a lamp or to display porcelain .
In excellent condition , with no damage or repairs.
