Description

Late C19th Anglo-Indian ivory inlaid 'shisham' folding octagonal table .
Exotic ivory-inlaid octagonal top table of useful height and scale . Profusely inlaid top with floral and trailing vine designs . The centre with an elaborate quatrefoil type design . The edge with ebony and ivory chevron inlaid detail .
The octagonal hinged and folding base with arcaded sides and ivory inlaid detail .
Traditionally made in the Hoshaipur district of Northern India ,for export to the West where during the late C19th they were highly fashionable . Made using the local shisham timber.
In good original condition , with only minor losses to inlay.
