Late C18th George III Sheraton period mahogany canterbury.
Elegant dished-top or 'boat-shaped' 4-division canterbury of classically simple restrained design and neat scale, to the designs of Thomas Sheraton (1751-1806).
Raised on tall tapering square-section supports fitted with brass box castors (one an old matched replacement). Fitted with a single mahogany-lined , 'cock-beaded' drawer with original cast-brass circular knob. The corner uprights of the frame each with a gently chamfered and shaped top and forming rounded corners.
The square-section divisions and slats forming compartments originally designed for holding sheet-music , now providing useful storage for newspapers and magazines.
In excellent original condition , with no damage ,splits or repairs.
Rich , dark original colour and patina.
