Description

Fine quality late C19th oval rosewood bijouterie table with boxwood and bone inlay by James Shoolbred d & Co., London.
Signed and stamped 2-tier rosewood bijouterie table with original fitted cushioned and buttoned plush interior. Vibrant yellow upholstered interior with contrasting pink buttoning. Raised on fine shaped and reeded supports fitted with original brass castors to a carved 'Greek key' foot. The edges of the top with applied gilt brass bead. The lower tier with gilded brass gallery.
The oval top with well-chosen rosewood veneer inside with boxwood and bone arabesque details. The friezes inlaid with boxwood and ivory 'harebells and husks' details.
Fitted with original working brass lock and key.
The underside of the top stamped by the esteemed London cabinet making firm of James Shoolbred and Co .
"JasShoolbred&Co" with serial number 7965.
James Shoolbred and Company were established in London in the 1820s on Tottenham Court Road . In the 1870s the firm began designing, manufacturing and selling high quality furniture. The company ceased trading in 1931.
In excellent original condition. Minor watermark to top corner of oval lid .
