Late C19th/early C20th terracotta classical bust study of a young man , probably an athlete.
Smart Hellenistic or Greek style terracotta portrait bust of a handsome youth , portrayed wearing a fillet , or thin band of cloth or leather in his hair , almost certainly denoting his status as a classical athlete .
Well-modelled features with skilfully sculpted hair detail . Raised on a low circular socle base.
Some minor weathering to the surface probably due to exposure to the elements in a garden or loggia setting. No damage or repairs , the reverse with a mould seam to the centre. Solid terracotta of considerable weight .
A smart classical study suitable for interior or exterior decoration.
