Mid C19th Victorian period reverse-glass painted and pearl patent painting by Thomas Lane of Windsor Castle.
Interesting painting in original papier-mâché frame by Birmingham maker Thomas Lane , the verso with a printed paper trade label "LANE'S PATENT ".
Thomas Lane (fl. c.1821-1855) was based at the Royal Papier-mâché Works, 91,Great Hampton Street and 20, Upper Hockley Birmingham. He is best known for his wares with the designs and pictures highlighted with thin flakes on the underside of the glass which he called 'patent pearl glass' although it was first patented by a Thomas Gibson.
In excellent and perfect original condition throughout.
