Late C19th Chinese Qing Dynasty carved hardwood 'kang' or opium table of scroll-end design.
Useful low reception-room or coffee table height Chinese carved hardwood table with pierced and carved bamboo design friezes and solid scroll ends with raised bamboo motif carving. The oblong inset panelled top with a bevelled edge .
Bamboo symbolic in Chinese culture ,being regarded as auspicious, as its properties of purity and virtue are valued and admired.
Heavy quality table of dense , figured Chinese hardwood or 'hongmu' timber , with a rich patina and colour. In excellent original condition with only minor historic minor stains to the top commensurate with age and use.
Strong and stable condition with no damage , breaks or repairs .
Has been cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
