Late C19th 'Grand Tour' souvenir bronze reduction of the 'Venus di Milo' by Ferdinand Barbedienne Foundry , Paris.
Well-cast bronze reduction of the iconic marble statue of 'Venus di Milo ' . Signed by the Barbedienne Foundry of Paris to the rear edge and bearing the seal stamp of Achille Collas . Collas invented the technology to reproduce scale-model miniatures of full scale statues from the museums of Europe and worked in partnership with Ferdinand Barbedienne.
The iconic marble ancient Greek marble statue of the Aphrodite or Venus found on the island of Milos , is now on display at The Louvre , Paris , France.
Good rich dark 'chocolate' patina with clearly defined features and no rubbing .
