Description

Early C19th George IV period bronze 'cluster-column' form lamp of classical inspiration.
Mellow , polished patination bronze lamp with a triple cluster-column form shaft raised on a triangular or tri-form base with compressed lion's paw feet . The sides of the base each cast with a curious theatrical mask , resonant of the designs of Thomas Hope and the brothers George & William Bullock .
The ancient Grecian-inspired and influenced design is similar to documented works by George Bullock (1777-1818) , who traded from a showroom called the "Grecian Rooms" in Liverpool in 1804 before successfully relocating to London in 1813 .
The top of the lamp with a cast lotus flower type design. Has been refurbished professionally and sympathetically , tested and rewired using traditional cotton-covered twist flex .
A stylish lamp of good proportions in excellent ready-to-use condition .
