Description

Late C19th / early C20th Regency style mahogany three-pillar pedestal dining table of highly flexible and adaptable format.
High quality Regency-revival d-ended mahogany dining table of classic period design. Raised on twin d-ended sections upon 3-splay legged turned pillar bases , shapely swept legs fitted with well-modelled cast brass capped claw-type castors and wheels . The rectangular central section raised upon on four-splay legged pillar base with corresponding and conforming turned column.
The solid .75 inch thickness mahogany tops all of excellent grade and figuring , all sections with a reeded or moulded edge . All sections fitted with round dowels and receptor holes to hold together in the traditional manner , and also all fitted with brass clip forks and receivers as in Regency period originals. Additionally , each section has mahogany swivel-bar fittings beneath the top to provide extra support and stability .
In addition to the 3-pillar sections, the table also has 2 additional mahogany leaves of equal size which fit between the sections to provide extra length and flexibility of scale . All with corresponding brass fittings and clips . The 3 sections also each fitted with high-quality period-style brass fittings and handles to release clips on the blocks of the pillars to allow the tops to tip up for ease of movement and storage . The tops also completely removal with brass threaded thumb screws .
The solid mahogany tops all having achieved an authentic period-style patination and colour . Due to various degrees of sunlight and atmospheric exposure there is also a variance of colour and finish adding to the authentic appearance of a being a valuable and scarce Regency period table of real importance.
Minor historic marks and rings to the original polish and surface , but crucially retaining a good original ‘skin’ and period feel to the whole table . Completely flat surface throughout with no movement to the whole table providing excellent stability and rigidity.
When fully extended the table would comfortably seat 10 to 12 diners .
Can be used In any number of extension options to provide varying table lengths and provisions for multiple diner numbers.
All-in-all an excellent Regency style table to add restrained elegance and a convincing period style to an dining room setting.
