Set of 3 early C19th brass and blackened steel ‘countryhouse’ fire-guards or ‘nursery’ fenders .
Rare group of 3 matching spark or fire-guard fenders of good scale . The returns of the brass top edge with ball decoration probably on which to rest fire-tools or fittings , all fitted with original wire-mesh protective grilles of ‘diamond’ format with brass vertical divider supports .
Each with a blacked steel hearth plate and raised on spaced , compressed ball feet . The bottom edge with a conforming brass mould .
Highly practical and decorative set of three fenders in good ‘as found ‘ original countryhouse condition . Minimal damage to the mesh and all in a good robust usable state .
Offered in unpolished, unrestored and original state . Can be given a highly polished finish to client’s specifications if required.
