                                                                            Fine pair of late C18th Italian hand-coloured engravings by Ottaviani after Raphael .
Pair of highly decorative hand-coloured engravings on paper of ornamentation for the pillars and walls of the Loggia of the Apostolic Palace at The Vatican , Rome , Italy designed by Raphael circa 1519. 
Known as the ‘Logge Di Raffaello’ , the frescoes were created to adorn the walls and pillars in the Ancient Roman revival style of painting .  Using Raphael’s designs the works were completed by a large team of artists , Giovanni da Udine being the principal hand. 
These engravings were completed by Giovanni Ottaviani (1735-1808) and have original hand colouring with vibrant hues and no fading . 
The lower margins of each with inscriptions , attributions and dedication to both Giovanni Ottaviani , the architect Pietro Camporesi and the Papacy. 
Recently mounted in sympathetic ebonised square-section framed and glazed cases .
