Description

Early C20th Japanese carved bone ‘okimono’ figure of an immortal or sage.
Carved sectional bone study of a Japanese immortal or god . Depicted dressed in traditional garments decorated with floral and geometric designs , the bearded figure shown with a benevolent expression and holding an infant aloft , raised on an integral circular plinth type base
The figure with incised and coloured carved decoration in reds and black . The construction of the sculpture made from joined bone sections.
The sculpture probably depicting Fukurokuju , the Japanese god of good luck ,health or well-being , his presence in a home being beneficial to it’s Feng Shui .
In excellent original condition , with no damage or losses .
