Pair of late C19th Chinese Qing Dynasty hardwood armchairs of unusual design.
Heavy quality Chinese hardwood armchairs the frames of rounded section, perhaps to imitate ,or allude to cane . The back and side panels each filled with asymmetrical bars , a design known as ‘cracked ice’ .
The seats with solid panels , the legs all united by stretchers , together with simple decorative friezes and flat foot-rests
In excellent original condition with a rich colour and patina.
The quality and weight of the rosewood or ‘hongmu’ timber is outstanding, and both chairs are in first-class condition with no damage or loose joints .
Decorative and practical hall or side chairs of exotic and timeless Chinese design, which would provide symmetry and style to an interior.
