Early C19th George IV period mahogany ‘metamorphic’ rising circular ‘dumb-waiter’.
Interesting and practical mahogany circular table with ‘rising’ top creating a two-tier ‘dumb-waiter’ . Raised on a substantial turned and moulded column onto a concave-sided triangular platform base. The whole raised on circular turned feet fitted with original inset concealed brass castors .
The rising square section central pillar retained in position by a sprung section of timber .
The underside of the top stamped with a production or pattern number .
A high quality table in excellent original shape with a rich colour and patina to the superior grade of timber . Possibly attributable to the esteemed cabinet-making firm of Gillows of Lancaster.
