C19th bronze �Grand Tour� souvenir paperweight of a lion after Antonio Canova on a marble base .
Well-cast small bronze lion , being a reduction of one of the marble pair sculpted by Antonio Canova in 1792 for the tomb of Pope Clement XIII in St.Peter�s, Rome . One lion depicted sleeping, whilst the other is vigilant as in this example.
The bronze having a �golden� colour and patina.
Mounted upon a plinth block base of �verde mare� green marble .
