Early C19th Regency period rosewood gilt brass-mounted and parcel-gilt 2-part bookcase. Extremely smart quality 4-door rosewood bookcase of slim proportions and small scale. Retaining its original wire-mesh grille panel doors of twin cross-over diamond design (minor losses to wire). Gilt-brass mouldings framing the wire doors and outlining the panelled uprights create a striking contrast with the richly figured timber. The simple flared cornice with parcel-gilt decoration, repeated beneath the waist section.
Gilded brass reeded 'slamming' strips applied to central door uprights. Well-figured rosewood veneers throughout, original black-painted interior and 6 panel back-boards. Fitted with original double flush-fitting brass door-bolts top and bottom.
Original locks and key. Fitted with 5 moveable ladder-rack shelves with rosewood veneered facings (3 shown). The whole raised on plinth base.

Excellent colour and patina, good original condition throughout.
Cleaned and waxed ready to use.

Single door cabinet with simple bar glazing , enclosing an interior with 4 adjustable shelves . The sides with bold flame-veneered Empire-style columns capped with carved Egyptian-style 'lotus' capitals and terminals . Standing on a plinth base , the flat top of the cabinet veneered and polished.
Fitted with a stamped English brass lock "VR" (Victoria Regina) and with original key .
Original glass to door .

Panelled back .

Excellent condition , rich patina and colour to the well-chosen figured veneers.

Excellent quality flame-veneered mahogany glazed-top bookcase , with fitted secretaire drawer over an inverted break-front 4-cupboard base. Ovoid bar-glazed 2-door bookcase top fitted with 2 adjustable shelves, beneath a flared, stepped cavetto cornice. The secretaire with figured satinwood interior comprising an arrangement of drawers (one fitted as a pen/ink drawer) and 'pigeon-holes'.

The lower inverted break-front base comprising of 2 end side cupboards with adjustable shelves, and 2-door centre enclosing an unusual central drawer fitment with 'secret' / concealed drawers behind. All conforming moulded arch-panel decoration, with ovoid secretaire drawer panel echoing the glazing.
Original panelled back.
Standing on a plinth base.

Rich mahogany patina and colour ,in good original condition , with minor shrinkage crack to top left of base section (shown).

Set of late C19th teak and brass officers' military campaign book-shelves.

Interesting set of military campaign book-shelves constructed to be easily dismantled and transported. The 3 teak shelves divided by turned brass uprights secured by the decorative finial nut caps . The top shelf with removable shaped back-stand or creating rail with steel locating pins . Standing upon compressed circular spread feet , designed to stand atop a chest or desk.

All shelves stamped beneath with a pattern number , suggesting these shelves were probably made by the Army & Navy Company , one or the most notable and leading suppliers of such goods and furniture for overseas military expedition and campaign use.

In good original condition with rich patina and clean brass-ware.

Superb quality Georgian bookcase with bar-glazed upper doors retaining their original hand-blown glass panels . The glass having wonderful movement and an almost convex profile . The divided centre top with 6 original adjustable shelves with 'ladder-racking' sides . (Supplied also with 4 additional C19th matching shelves to increase capacity if required).

The base section with a simple 'thumb-moulded' edge and fitted with twin panelled doors of book-matched flame mahogany with a rare and unusual figured satinwood cross-banding , which presents the illusion of fielded panels . The doors enclosing two banks of 6 graduated drawers each fitted with their original cast-brass 'swan-neck' handle.

Both pairs of doors fitted with their original reeded and patinated brass central 'slamming' strips ,double brass bolts and brass key escutcheons. Original locks and steel loop-handle key . The moulded cornice of simple uncomplicated design.

Raised upon original low , wide bracket feet supports . Original panelled back .

A well proportioned, low-waisted cabinet of restrained C18th design , a rare survivor presented in it's original untouched state .

Original surface with a rich ,deep colour and patination.

C19th George II style decorated and parcel-gilt astragal glazed bookcase. Very impressive mahogany-constructed 2-door bookcase/cabinet decorated with a period-inspired dark green and gilded scheme. Dramatically-scaled twin glazed doors with gilt-highlighted glazing bars enclosing a 5 fixed-shelf interior. The carved cavetto and 'egg and dart' cornice with parcel gilt decoration , above a dentil mould . A Chippendale-inspired 'card-cut' blind-fret frieze beneath . The plinth base carved with period-style parcel gilded flower-head design moulding. The majority of the glass panes almost certainly mid C18th, with some old replacements.

In excellent aged period-style paint finish, incorporating mid C18th period doors.

A practical and stylish cabinet with striking visual presence.

Unusually compact scale 4-door bookcase with glazed top section and panelled-door cupboards beneath . The top with original velvet lining , fitted with adjustable shelves , brass door bolts , brass locks and original keys . The gently arched glazed-top panel doors above figured mahogany rounded-corner panel doors below . The cornice of stepped and flared architecturally-inspired form , the whole raised on a plinth base.

Of practical compact scale , with excellent to-scale proportions . Unusual build-design whereby the whole bookcase can be disassembled into 7 sections for ease of movement and to facilitate transport .

Exceptional quality bookcase throughout , with all original fittings , having been manufactured by highly-skilled cabinet-makers using a superior grade of mahogany . Has all the quality hall-marks of having been made by a leading London workshop of the era, though unsigned or stamped.

Excellent original colour , polish and patina. Has had rear base of lower sides cut and shaped to fit to a skirting board .

The 2-door base fitted with 2 'flush' frieze drawers , the twin panelled doors with moulded surrounds and conforming gently-arched panels , 2 fixed shelves to the interior.
The whole carcass of rounded corner construction . Moulded rounded-corner stepped cornice with conforming plinth base.

Splits into 3 sections in conventional manner, for ease of transportation .

Smart double-size rosewood bookcase fitted with 2 adjustable shelves mounted on 'sawtooth' ladder-racking . The top fitted with 3/4 gallery , whilst all edges and shelves have split-reel 'knulled' mouldings. Raised upon acanthus-leaf carved scroll feet to the front with deep moulded edge, the rear fitted with turned bun feet . The shelves and interior have all benefited from well-executed 'faux rosewood' grained paint-work decoration .
Good capacity for both volumes of books and objects.

A practical and decorative piece of period furniture.

Excellent original condition throughout , no cracks ,damage or repairs. A well-chosen tightly-grained grade of rosewood which has achieved a good deep patina .

Capacious 4-door mahogany library bookcase with intricately-glazed astragal doors , 'blind-fret' decoration and elegant pierced fret-work 'swan-neck' broken-arch pediment cornice. Fitted with adjustable shelves to both sections . The whole raised on a plinth base.

Well-defined Chippendale style 'Chinese blind-fret' carved detail and carved square corner blocks. The impressive fret-work cornice surmount with dentil moulded detail and carved rosette terminals to the arch .

Fitted with brass bolts and locks to the doors and supplied with 2 original keys.
Divides into 3 sections for transportation and ease of movement .

Original polish and finish, has minor areas of fading and colour variance from sun-light exposure.

Double-height divided open library bookcase raised on a plinth base with flared cornice to the upper section . Fitted throughout with fully adjustable 'ladder-rack' shelving . The top section of shallow depth , having probably been reduced in proportion at some point in its history . The sides of the bookcase being stained and polished pine as often the case in furniture of this type and period , thus imitating the mahogany of the rest of the piece .

Good quality timber, with a pleasing faded mellow colour .
All original shelves and back-boards.

Constructed to 2 parts for ease of movement and transportation .

**NB. The top section is very shallow and suitable for only for novels and paperback books or for display. See measurements below.

Nice quality smart desk-top revolving bookcase with pierced splat/dividers with brass fixings , box-wood string inlay and inlaid central motif in top. Revolves on baize-covered cruciform foot. Shaped frieze to base with line inlay. Will take volumes up to 8" tall. Very clean original condition.
