Pair of early C20th George II design period-style brass-bound oval mahogany wine-coolers. Standing upon carved 'hairy-paw' lion's feet ,impressive pair of mahogany oval-form wine-coolers with gilt-brass bands together with well-cast carrying handles. Gadrooned carved edges with ribbed and carved mouldings to the bodies, above fluted bases.
Heavy quality copies of an important pair of mid-Georgian period wine-coolers .
Fitted with removable brass liners, for use as either coolers or jardinières.

Imposing scale and bold, dramatic design .

Of ancient sarcophagus form ,mahogany with ebony edge , reeded lid ,edge and feet . Canted tapering corners and fitted with lion-mask ring carrying handles to sides. Stands on reeded compressed bun feet with brass castors.

Good original condition . Bears old paper label to interior listing contents of bottles.

Nice faded mellow colour. (Key)

Fine quality early C19th Regency period mahogany wine cellarette.

Of classically-designed ancient sarcophagus-shaped form , the panelled front cellarette is raised on exceptionally well-carved acanthus-wrapped lions' paw feet with intricate claw detail . The stepped and concave-moulded lid with a well-carved oblong central block or tablet , of stylised flowers. The carved feet fitted with original 'concealed' or sunken, brass barrel-type castors . The panelled ends each fitted with an original cast-brass well-detailed lion's mask ring handle.

The polished interior of plain form , which would hold approximately 15-20 bottles of wine. The lid fitted with brass hinges and an interior brass restraining chain . The front fitted with a brass lock escutcheon and supplied with original steel key .

Drawing its influences and inspiration from the revisited forms of the ancient classical worlds of Greece and Rome , made fashionable again during this Regency period by the drawings and designs of leading architects and designers such as Thomas Hope , George Smith and Charles Heathcote-Tatham.

Of good compact ,practical proportions.

Excellent condition , figured and flamed mahogany with a rich patina, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Boat-shaped ,ovoid wine-cooler with dipped sides, rolled-edge lip and folded foot rim . Has achieved a wonderful rich greenish bronzed patination . The body with all-over 'punched' or 'hammered' decoration.

In excellent condition , would hold numerous bottles . Would work equally well in a dining-room or kitchen ,as it would on a bar or buffet .
